Give A BOXFUL OF MEMORIES this Christmas
Did you ever splash out on a big, centrepiece toy… only to see it sadly pushed to a corner by spring-time? (last year’s Barbie Dreamhouse, we’re looking at you.)
Sometimes it has to be done. But there’s a trend for giving something a little different this year. We’ll still be buying pens, pyjamas, and (anyone else?) Bluey toys… but we’re thinking about ways to add ‘experiences’ into the mix.
Need some inspiration?
1. Pottery painting. Studios have sprung up everywhere! Make sure you book for two – this is an activity for sharing.
2. Horse-riding. Find out what’s offered in your local stables; some let you book a private lesson or family hack.
3. Theatre tickets. (If you’re in London, Polka Theatre is wonderful.) Many shows are suitable for children as young as 3.
4. Their first football game. Tip: get seats on your home team’s side – close to the pitch entrance so you can watch the players coming out!
5. A ‘promise’ voucher for a special day spent with Mum, Dad, or a grandparent.
6. A train ride, tram ride, or journey on a bus. (We know a few children who get excited about travelling on the top deck!)
Capture these special days in photographs, keep tickets and mementoes, and store them safely in your memory case.
