Night Night Sleep Tight: How to make bedtime even more magical

There is something special about a bedtime routine. It's a time to reflect and connect after a long day, and although it can sometimes feel like a rush to put the kids to bed or a slog when you have so many other things to juggle, it is so important to take a moment and make bedtime feel magical again.

There are so many ways to bring back the magic of bedtime and build lasting memories for your children to cherish when they grow up

Silliouttes -

Using a torch or a lamp to illuminate a wall to create stories using your hands, cutouts or toys to create shadows. Shadows can become animals, characters, or magical places, turning the bedroom into a calm storytelling space. You could even make it an activity during the day, having them cut out their own silhouettes to use for bedtime.

Puppets -

Puppets are a playful way to bring fun and imagination to bedtime. Using puppets to create your own stories or to add something special to their old favourites. Even using their favourite teddies as puppets, giving them voices and names to create an easy but magical bedtime.

Story Bags -

Using a story sack is a creative way to craft your own stories. Fill a bag with different little toys, paper with words on or drawings, pick out an item one at a time and build your own story around them. This encourages creativity, collaboration, and imagination, while keeping bedtime calm and screen-free.

Reading Books -

Bedtime stories are familiar and comforting, but sometimes the classics work best. A favourite book or a new one is a great way to spend time with your little ones, creating shared memories. Add voices to make the stories even more special.

Rose Bud Thorn -

Rose, Bud, Thorn is a simple reflection activity that helps children talk about their day. A rose represents something positive, a bud is something they are looking forward to, and a thorn is something that felt challenging. This practice supports emotional expression and helps children feel heard before bedtime.

Saying Goodnight in your special way -

Every family has their own special way to say goodnight. A special teddy, a special goodnight saying, or routine. These bedtime rituals become a consistent and comforting time for your little ones, and form some of their most special memories.
